About us

LP345-Records is a Jazz record label created as a collaboration between three renown musicians, Luigi Grasso, Yaron Herman, Laurent Courthaliac, and a music lover entrepreneur, Peter Schnur.

It was in 2019 that the idea of creating a record label first took root in the minds of pianist Laurent Courthaliac and saxophonist Luigi Grasso. Their first project was built around a place: Laurent’s apartment, where a nine-album box set of solo piano recordings was produced, featuring the finest of the Parisian piano scene (Alain Jean-Marie, Pierre de Bethmann, Fred Nardin…), under the title At Barloyd’s.

Laurent and Luigi then invited pianist Yaron Herman and Peter Schnur, an art enthusiast, to join the adventure. In 2020, the label began its first two recordings with an original concept: albums of three tracks, selected at the end of a single day of recording in Laurent’s apartment.

The first release was by René Urtreger in solo piano. Urtreger was one of the most eminent pianists of the Parisian and international jazz scene of the 1960s, and had recorded alongside Miles Davis on the soundtrack for Elevator to the Gallows.

The second release came from Kurt Rosenwinkel, one of today’s most prominent jazz guitarists, who helped revolutionize the genre alongside Brad Mehldau and Mark Turner. The highlight of this record lay in its title: Piano Solo. Indeed, it was Rosenwinkel’s very first recording as a pianist.

The third and fourth albums were recorded in New York during the COVID pandemic, as sessions could no longer take place in Laurent’s apartment. In 2022, a double album entitled The Complete Orange Hours was released, featuring rising tenor saxophone star Nicole Glover, former Jazz Messengers member Johnny O’Neal, as well as established masters such as David Kikoski, Peter Bernstein, and Kevin Hays.

Around the same period, young piano prodigy Micah Thomas, then only 23 years old, recorded his first album for the label, which went on to win the 2023 Grand Prix of the Charles Cros Academy.

This was followed by the first album of one of the label’s founding members, Luigi Grasso, who composed Dantesca, a work for saxophone and symphony orchestra. Always seeking new talents, the label then introduced young vocalist Robin Mansanti, whose album Nuit Américaine became a true revelation.

In just a few short years, LP345 Music has established itself as one of the most dynamic emerging labels on the French and international jazz scene.
